Happy Halloween 2015!

This may well be the best dangblasted Hallowe’en I’ve ever had. Why, do you ask? I’ll elucidate:

I spent this day:

Being clawed by Freddy,

Being choked by Jason,

And laughing my head off at Robert Englund scratching (or picking??) his nose with MiniFreddy’s claws.

Yes, it has been a marvelous Hallowe’en,everyone. I will report more on these events after I’ve come down from my starstruck/sugar high.

See more of MiniFreddy  including photos of building him and a quick video,on our sister page,!

Comission: Life Size Old Dog.

I was commissioned by a high school’s theater department to make several puppets for an upcoming production; I’ve worked with them before so I jumped at the chance. One of the puppets is an aging, sad-eyed dog, life size, mixed breed, brown with white patches. Her eyelids are still pinned on here, but I think she is looking pretty good.:)

She is indeed life size and is a bit hard to wrangle around to work on. But who could resist that sweet face?

Reposted from Dragon Patch TV: Misty Sketch!

Halloween SB 2015 9_15_ 2015 _0001

Misty is one of my most favorite puppet characters to perform and a delight to draw. Saturday night, The Tomato Gang and I were sitting in Joanne and Jason’s living room watching Back to the Future. I had my Halloween 2015 Sketchbook on me and since I can’t sit still anymore without drawing, I was scribbling away as I enjoyed the movie. The end result should make for a few entertaining posts.

Misty has a button now that I am hoping to sell at  A Tour of Southern Ghosts this year. Wish me luck!

Monster Bash–Zak’s New Head!

Don’t show the kidlets–

I had to do some major repairs on one of my beloved monster puppets. Actually it was a head transplant.

The puppet on the left, Zak, is about 30 years old and needed a new head. It is made from bare foam and is rotting away. Storch, on the right, was pretty much a re-imagining of Zak. So, I thought, that was the head I would give Zak.

An hour later, Zak has a fresh new head.

The headless puppet that was Storch is being repurposed into another character, fear not!

its alive!

It’s alive!!!

John Noble and Gene the Cow Puppet!

I also made a little puppet of Gene the Cow for John Noble. I was thinking of making him a Denethor puppet, but it is his work on the show Fringe that really made me a fan. So I took a dive and did it. The man obviously has a sense of humor so I thought it would be something different.

So presented it to him and he had a laugh over her party hat and her markings that made her look like the real Gene. Then he put the puppet on and made her clap and such, then told me thank you and took my hand.

I thought it was just a handshake but then he pulled me down to his level at the table and kissed my cheek. Then,as I am still sorta wondering what happened, he told Steve, ” No kiss for you.” And we laughed.

Then he wiggled Gene over toward Steve and had Gene say,”you stay away from that woman!” in a mock-stern voice. 😀 😀
